Throughput Testing (iperf3)

iperf3 is a standard open-source benchmarking tool for measuring maximum TCP and UDP bandwidth performance. You can use iperf3 to verify wire-speed throughput on 100BASE-T1 networks using the FC602 or on 10BASE-T1L networks using the FC621.

Before you begin

Download

You can benchmark throughput across Windows PCs, Linux hosts, Raspberry Pi boards, or embedded targets running FreeRTOS/lwIP.

Download the latest pre-compiled iperf3 binary archive for Windows and extract it to a folder of your choice. Open a terminal (cmd or PowerShell) inside the extracted directory to run iperf3.exe.

Install iperf3 directly via your distribution's package manager (or download it from iperf.fr):

sudo apt update
sudo apt install iperf3

Setup

FC602 100BASE-T1 iperf Setup

FC621 10BASE-T1L iperf Setup

Usage

Start the iperf3 server on Endpoint A to listen on the default TCP/UDP port 5201:

iperf3 -s

Expected server terminal output:

-----------------------------------------------------------
Server listening on 5201
-----------------------------------------------------------
Accepted connection from 192.168.1.101, port 50234

On Endpoint B, start the iperf3 client and specify the IPv4 address of the server:

iperf3 -c <ip-address>
# Example:
iperf3 -c 192.168.1.11

Expected client terminal output (100BASE-T1 wire speed ~95 Mbit/s):
